Infographic: Common Plumbing Problems and Reasons

This infographic titled ‘Common Plumbing Issues’ lists the commonly found plumbing problems in the home. Plumbing problems are bound to come up sooner or later. Pipes can develop leaks and sediment over time. Plumbing problems are often irritating to deal with as they can back up drains, clog sinks and disrupt our life in general.

Common plumbing problems

Leaking pipes: The most common leaking issue occurs with drainpipes that flush out the wastewater. This can create a smelly nuisance when the pipe leaks into the surrounding area. It is best to get a plumber to address this issue since it’s underground. They can find the source of the leak and fix it.

Sink troubles: Water pressure is an important issue. The pressure that is too high or too low can indicate the presence of an issue. The ideal pressure should be between 40 to 60 psi. Low pressure can indicate a clogged pipe, while high pressure can increase your water bill and shorten the life of your dishwasher or hot water heater.

Clogged pipes: A common problem that disrupts the water supply in your home is a clogged pipe. Sediment is a common culprit. Dirt that is carried into the pipes restrains water flow, accumulating over time narrowing the pipe. This will result in poor water pressure and uneven flow.

Common reasons behind plumbing issues:

Most plumbing issues are caused by these two reasons:

Poor maintenance: When a plumbing system is not properly maintained, it will start to develop issues like loosening joints or cracked pipes that lead to leaking pipes.

Changes in temperature: Overtime changes in temperature cause pipes to expand and contract and can cause joints to loosen.
